Amanda Malel Trevisanut’s Expertise Dr Amanda Malel Trevisanut is a sessional lecturer with the School of Culture and Communications (SCC), and a Research Associate of the Research Unit in Public Cultures (RUPC) at the University of Melbourne. Amanda completed her PhD with the SCC in 2014. Her thesis SBS Independent: Productive Diversity and Countermemory analysed SBS Independent as a cultural institution in relation to policy developments, elucidating how the commissioning house shaped new practices of production, distribution and countermemorial representation in the independent film and public broadcasting sectors between 1994 and 2007. Her research interests include media convergence, cultural policy and Australian film and television. Amanda’s writing has been published in the journals Media International Australia, Traffic and Refractory, and she has contributed chapters to the upcoming publications Contemporary Publics and Companion to Australian Cinema.
